The Collective, by BCD - Project Director

My next move took me to agency work at the Collective, where I learned a lot and put all my experience into practice as Project Director on the company’s largest event. I also worked on series of smaller events for global clients alongside this.

My time in this role was short and sweet, as I knew it wasn’t quite the right environment for me to thrive. During my time there, I met so many amazing freelancers who inspired and encouraged me to take a chance. I’m grateful to them for building my confidence back up and pushing me to make a decision that inevitably would make me happier and more in charge of my own career. It was just what I needed to take the leap into the freelance world!

My role included:

• Overseeing the delivery of high-quality, large-scale live events, serving as the main operational contact for clients

• Bringing together and managing teams from logistics, production, creative services, and delegate management specialisms to offer seamless event delivery

• Handling budget creation, proposals, and contract negotiations with clients

• Managing the contracting process with venues and suppliers, negotiating terms and costs.

• Maintaining project status internally and with clients, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and ensuring deadlines are met across multiple teams.

• Leading client planning calls, managing event schedules, deadlines and embedding processes and best practice

• Maintaining clear communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle and provide tangible solutions for issues that arise during the project life cycle

• Providing onsite support on a number of events across the client portfolio

• Organising and managing global site visits with clients, coordinating activities, venue inspections, menu tastings, travel logistics and ensuring we meet client standards and requirements.
