Leeds City Region - Event Manager

My role at Leeds City Region was based in the Inward Investment team. The department worked to create and convert investment into the region. During my first few months there, I was part of the team that landed the deal to bring Channel 4 offices to Leeds.
I was a one woman team, working with the investment department to participate and exhibit in global trade shows, promoting the region as a place to invest.
My role and responsibilities included:
Managing and delivering LCR’s presence at UK and global trade shows and exhibitions including MIPIM Cannes, Smart City World Expo and Arab Health.
Budget management across all events, providing reports to strict deadlines, abiding by procurement processes as set out by LCR.
Delivering all aspects of our events from stand design and build, production management, venue management, delegate management, content development and delivery, speaker recruitment and management, delivery of executive dinners, and overall onsite management.
Negotiating costs, packages and contracts with suppliers and venues
Developing and implementing an effective sponsorship strategy to raise millions in capital to fund our projects and enable delegations to travel to our events.
Acting as client relations manager to all our commercial and government partners, delivering their agreed contract terms and hitting their business goals.
Engaging with businesses and local government across the region to create our content themes, agendas and fringe event programmes. I recruited speakers, managing the demands of each region and their expectations for promotion / marketing requirements across our shows.
Working with the marketing team, rebranding our MIPIM brand presence, developing a marketing campaign and branding for Smart City World Expo, and delivering to our brand expectations across a number of smaller events.
Developing a fully realised event strategy and project plans, plus created business cases for new concepts to be presented to the managing director for approval.
